Add Sound to Almost Every Event in Windows

Make Default theme of XP like A Window Blinds/Style XP:-

XP comes with a new set of sounds that will surely add pizzazz to the way you work in Windows. But there's one problem -- you need to actually turn on the Windows default sound scheme before you'll be able to hear them.

To turn on the Windows XP default sound scheme, follow these directions:

Single-click the Start menu.
Single-click the Control Panel.
Single-click the Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices icon.
Single-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon or the text labeled "Change the sound scheme."

Make sure you're on the Sound tab and locate the pull-down menu under Sound scheme.
Select the Windows Default option and press Apply. Windows will ask you if you want to save the previous sound scheme. Since there wasn't a sound scheme already loaded, just choose No.
If you look under the text labeled "Program events," you'll be able to sample your new sounds or customize them with your own. Read Customize Events Sounds if you'd like to learn how to do this yourself.

Speed up Firefox

network.http.proxy.pipeliningHere's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.
This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.

Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now..

Use Notepad as Your Personal Dairy

Use the Notepad as your personal diary

There is a simple feature in Notepad that can make it work like a personal diary for you. Here is how to go about it:

1.Firstly open a blank Notepad file.

2. Now write .LOG as the first line in the file, then press enter. Now save the file and close it.

3.Open the notepad file now and you will find that the current date and time has been appended (put) at the end and the cursor is in the next line.

4. Type your notes and then save and close the file.

5. Each time you open the file, Notepad repeats the process, that is it appends the date and time to the end of the file and places the cursor below it.

Show Hidden Files and Folders not working?

Some time for some trojens or worms hide folder not show in windows XP. The show hidden files and folders was not working at all. If we selected the radio button “Show hidden files and folders”, and then press Ok .. the changes would just disappear upon opening the dialog again.
It was probably some virus attack after which the Windows registry was not being updated properly.

So here is what I did to restore it back. There are so many methods to restore back the registry.
If one method is not working, please try another one.

Method 1:
Go to registry editor by running regedit in the run box.Go to this key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
In the right hand area, double click hidden and change the value to 1. Now you’re all set to go. Check it in your tools menu if the changes have taken effect.

Method 2:

1. Click “Start” -> “Run…” (or press Windows key + R)
2. Type “regedit” and click “Ok”.
3. Find the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
4. Look at the “CheckedValue” key… This should be a DWORD key. If it isn’t, delete the key.
5
. Create a new key called “CheckedValue” as a DWORD (hexadecimal) with a value of 1.
6. The “Show hidden files & folders” check box should now work normally.

Enjoy!!!!! :)

View Admin At welcome Screen

By default windows XP doesn't show the Administrator in the user list at the welcome screen. Here's a way to get around it.

Now head up to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
\SpecialAccounts\Userlist.

Create a new DWORD entry and name it as Administrator and change its value to 1.Exit and Reboot for the changes to take effect. To change it back change its value to 0 or simply delete the key.

The following registry setting will prevent writing to usb in windows xp.

Open registry Editor by typing REGEDIT in run command.
